I find Jenny Sanford’s reaction to her husband’s Argentine fling to be so refreshing. She’s not saying it’s over. But she’s not petulantly standing by her man either. She’s kicked him out – for now – and is focusing on her kids. As for herself, she told a reporter, “I know I’m going to be fine. Not only will I survive, I’ll thrive.” You can practically hear the opening strains of Gloria Gaynor, can’t you?

LOVE this youtube clip. Gloria Gaynor rocks!
And I love these inspirational quotes. Especially the one by Susan Sontag. Unfortunately, it may be her talking about having the strength to act on her suicide.
Thanks so much Jennifer.

I thought of you Saturday night when I went to see the film Sita Sings the Blues at the Bijou. I highly recommend it. I don’t typically go to animated films, but this one is amazing — the story is about Rama & Sita — Hindu story; sort of a fairy tale. The music is great! and the story is heartbreaking and reminds me about the sad truth of women in the world as second-class citizens. Sita gets the short end of the deal, through no fault of her own, except a little greed maybe. Anyway, she does not deserve the harsh treatment she gets from Rama. There is a parallel story going on of two lovers who live in NYC; the guy takes a job out of the country for six months… that’s the story that reminded me of you and your situation. Hope you can go see it. Or check it out on you-tube.
